John Duguid is a life sciences consulting and investment specialist with over two decades of experience. He is the founder of QMI Capital Management LLC, a Registered Investment Advisor, which applies artificial intelligence to investment management. In his role as a consultant, John has evaluated numerous life science portfolios for their valuation, technical quality, and strategic potential. Having provided services to several buyside firms, he is a proficient securities analyst who has achieved remarkable success in the healthcare and related technology domain.
Previously, John worked as a Senior Scientist in the area of gene therapy and drug delivery, and holds dual degrees of PhD in biochemistry from the University of Minnesota, and BS in biomedical engineering from the University of Iowa, along with an MBA from Cornell University. Further, he is a registered rep with BA Securities, LLC having passed the Series 63 and 82TO exams. As a CFA Charter holder and member of the CFA Institute, CFA Society Boston, and CFA Society New York, John has been deeply involved in securities analysis and investment selection. He has evaluated and invested in more than 200 public and private assets on behalf of various buyside firms to generate portfolio growth and positive returns in the life sciences and medical technology sector. Moreover, he has developed a bespoke selection and portfolio management model exclusively for life science companies. Additionally, John has advanced drug delivery systems to target multiple cell and tissue types using genes of therapeutic relevance.
